Tien Ong Guidebook
Written by Branly
This small cave is located near the Taxi Girl area, bolted by Arnaud Petit in 2002, which is located on the Hang Tien Ong Island (“silver cave"  in English). It will be easier to call it Tien Ong area. It is divided into 2 parts close to each other: one is a small cave, the other one is a steep wall with huge stalactites.

Review

Cat Ba - Tien Ong : 1h 30
Number of climbing routes : 8+
Accessible by high tide : 8+
Accessible by low tide: not really, some landings will be safe, but there are some boulders in the water that must be avoided..
Difficulty  : 4a - >7a
Water depth: Ok for the small cave, be careful to the starting platform to the slope
Rock: very good inside the cave, medium quality on the face.
Other: the cave sector is very convenient for people who don’t feel comfortable with height. Inside the cave, the roof is at a low height, and the walls on the side propose vertical and easy routes at low height.
The second area (steep wall with long stalactites) proposes some interesting opportunities, as you can see on Dosage 3. We didn’t fully explore this sector.

Climbing guidebook

Small cave area

Several possibilities exist inside the cave as the rock is solid and good. Climbing routes start with 6b (about 5.10b or V2). Be careful of the 2 hidden blocks in the water – they’ll make a nasty landing. The first underwater block is near the cave entry on the left – the other one on the right in front of the cave. Test the depth with your paddle before climbing.

For those who don’t like roofs and rock’n roll slopes, the wall on the left offers very easy short climbing routes (French grade around 4, aka V0)

Steep wall with very long stalactites

Work in progress. Some wonderful routes seem to be possible, as you can see on the Big Up Productions pictures of Dosage 3.
